Jawans strip, loot man on train, held at Bihar station

Patna, July 5: The Government Railway Police arrested nine jawans of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces for stripping a passenger on board the Guwahati-New Delhi Northeast Express at Bihar’s Barauni railway station on Tuesday night.

GRP personnel also recovered Rs 4,000 that the Army jawans had allegedly looted from Parmatma Yadav of Balia district in Uttar Pradesh.

Those arrested were Navraj Sharma of Battalion 8, sector RRK, Jammu and Kashmir; Rajendra Singh of Battalion 2, Assam Rifles; Digvijay Singh and Hira Singh of Battalion 9, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Mohammed Imtiyaz Khan of the 165th battalion of the CRPF; Mandeep of Battalion 2, Jammu-Kashmir Rifles; Vijay Pal Singh and Ram Singh of Battalion 297, Indian Army, and Sashi Paul of Battalion 257, Indian Army.

The GRP claimed the security personnel were drunk and had occupied a general wagon (No. 8336) of the train and abused all those who tried to get into the coach.Parmatma Yadav had boarded the train at Rania railway station. The jawans had told him to get out of the coach and, when he refused, the security personnel stripped him and threw his clothes out of the coach. "The jawans also tried to have unnatural sex with me. When I resisted, they beat me up and looted the cash that I had. Fortunately, the train had reached Barauni railway station and I jumped out," the victim told the police.

The GRP found a stripped Parmatma running on platform 8 of Barauni railway station crying for help. The GRP personnel gave him a towel and then entered the coach in which the incident had taken place. After lodging an FIR against the nine jawans, the police sent them to the divisional jail in Begusarai. Army Headquarters has been informed about the incident.
